job application tricks

I've got some hot job search tips for you today:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣when you apply for a role, before your resume will ever see human eyes, it'll go through a computer screening first. So it's really important to use the key words that are in the job description. I used to feel like I was plagiarizing 😂 but that's actually what we want. You really want to highlight what the job description is saying is important to the hiring manager and show how you have experience doing that in a previous role. The computer won't be looking for synonyms or reading between the lines so you want to make it obvious that you have what the job is looking for. This means you'll have a slightly different resume for every job you apply to.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣capture their attention with your job statements in your resume by focusing on the impact of your work. How is your way of working or your experience unique? Why is what you do important? I know there's a reason. Adding in more quantitative information (like counseled 16 direct reports) can help too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣REMEMBER: All it takes is one job application to get you into a totally different job. So I encourage you to focus on only applying to the jobs you're at least an 8 out of 10 excited about. If it's not an 8/10, don't put the effort into applying. Then if you're only focused on the ones you actually want, it'll be easier and less work to update your resume for each of them. I've seen it drastically impact how fast my clients land their next role. And it helps protect you against job search burnout.
