Following Your Passion

It feels like in today’s society there is a what you want to do vs should do when it comes to living your life. I am here to tell you that these should be the same things. You should do what you want to do and not listen to outside voices. I know this is easier said than done because I also struggled with it.

As I was applying for college, I felt like I should apply to some kind of medical major. Some people see this as the only way to be successful, going into a high-paying and intense job. One of my favorite quotes ever is, “If you are happy doing what you are doing, then no one can tell you you’re not successful.” My personal “success” is doing a job that I love while also doing things outside work that bring me joy.

It is no surprise to anyone around me that I am a major fangirl, especially for Harry Styles and Taylor Swift. Harry is actually the one who really inspired me to pursue a career in PR Entertainment. I knew going into this field wouldn’t be the most amazing pay compared to medicine, but it was what made me happy, and I am willing to deal with any hardships that come with it. I currently do social media and three of the major venues in Columbus and I absolutely love it. Interacting with fans and capturing these moments has been the best. I feel lucky that my passion for entertainment and music translates to both my professional and personal life. Even if it didn’t to my professional life, I still incorporate music into my life. Now that I have “big girl money” I have been going to so many more concerts! Going to them truly makes me so happy and helps motivate me at times when work is hard. Knowing that in a couple of weeks, I will be seeing one of my favorite artists again.

All of this is easier said than done but I truly became happier when I accepted the things, I am passionate about and that brought me joy. I love living the fangirl life! Find the things that make you happy and do it! This is our one life so do what brings you joy.
